*phew*

Alright, please keep this about 15k armor for PvP---not "PvE vs PvP". While I understand SOME comparison's are necessary for discussion of including the armor, I'm going to pull my hair out and have to close this if we get more things like "PvP is just thrown into GW as an afterthought, deal with it." ---because this sort of thing has been brought up time and time again and it often leads to "**** **** **** ****" and stuff.

I don't want to have to close this because of it becoming another PvP vs PvE thread, thanks.

This needs to be locked, there's no sense in it. I think it's a PvP game with a PvE backstory, and a CORPG, and someone here says it's an MMORPG, which it clearly isn't as ANet has said it isn't.
MMORPG = Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game

It may not be like other RPG's in some respects, but it fits the description, regardless of what they may say.

Either way it is besides the point. So lets take out the MMORPG reference.

Compare it to Diablo 2 then, if you like. Same point, same difference. You aren't going to get the B-Net exclusives on your local game. It's the same game, but some things you just can't get to unless you play the game in a specific mode of play. If you want the B-Net exclusive content, you are going to have to play it on B-Net, the way they want you to, and work for it without short-cuts and without hacks.

Edit: Which is not meant to imply that PvE is the way the game is meant to be played. But, if they made it so you have to play PvE to get certain things, then it must mean that they want you to play PvE in order to aquire them.

Cutting to the chase before someone tries to spin what I said as some sort of "PvE is better than PvP" argument

I didn't forget anything, because that is not, in fact, true in any sense of the word whatsoever. I've played an MMO before. If this is supposed to be an MMO, (It's not.) then it really, really sucks and they need to fix it. Thankfully, it is not supposed to be an MMO. The PvP, even as much of an "afterthought" as it is, is, has always been, and always will be, the main focus of the game, as has been stated by Anet enough times to kill a cow at 50 paces.

And you know what? In the end, it occurs to me that you're probably right in some way or another. Y'all should be able to "earn" something if that's so important to you. But so should we. And nobody, not you, not me, not anyone, should need to "earn" the right to make their character not look either boring or ridiculous or both. The real problem which this argument exposes is that Anet did not make enough armor, the armor they did make sucks, and the idea of tying statistics to appearance needs to die so that people can look how they want without having to feel dumb for not getting that +5 energy or whatever. If the armor system didn't suck, this wouldn't be an issue in the first place. That's what needs fixing.

Read above.

And no PvP is not and never has been the "main focus of the game". The game is both PvP and PvE oriented. Get that through your thick skulls people.

The only reason PvP vs PvE is ever an issue is because you people make it an issue.

Quite the contrary. What would be the point of playing a game if everyone just had everything handed to them on a silver platter?

You earn nicer things than other people when you do better than them. Thats a fact of life. If you want nice things, you are going to have to earn them. You are not being prevented from earning anything you want. Take the time to play and get it yourself, just like everybody else has. No one is stopping you. If you can do PvP, you can do PvE, and vice-versa.

The only reason you won't ever get something in this game is if you havent worked towards it.

That isn't the problem at all.

There are 3-4 different appearances for each kind of armor statwise. For example, you have regular, 15K and Fissure Gladiators armor. Ascalons, 15K Ascalons, and knights are equivalent. Just as plate, 15K plate, Wyverns and Dragons are equivalent. None is better than the other, they just look different. Same with every other kind of armor for every other class.

There is no way for you to have less energy or defense or whatnot than a PvE set of armor.

The PvP armor is no better or worse than PvE. The only reason people would want PvE exclusive armor would be appearances. It is of a purely cosmetic nature.

And blaming ANet and saying they did a shitty job isn't going to change things.

...well, now that we've managed to add more suggestions as to how we could implement 15k armor (...not), this thread's done. Unfortunately, too much "Nuh uh" and "Yes HUH!"'s going on. It's obvious now that actually discussing the implementation of 15k armor for PvP character without getting off into PvP vs PvE debates is pretty much impossible unless everyone's willing.
